Breathless by Jennifer Niven (review)

This was apart of my tbr authors list so I was like, "Imma do a review" 'cause why not.

So first of, Jennifer Niven is the author of "All the Bright Places" which has been made into a netflix movie and that was how I discovered her and her books. To be honest, I really do appropriate "All the Bright Places" 'cause it got me through some dark times when I was just struggling and it made me feel like I wasn't alone but I do have to say that "Holding up the universe" is probably her best book and because of that it became fairly obvious that she was a GOOD author. Like most people who have one big hit... let's just say it's for a reason... BUT Jennifer did not disappoint. I wanted to read more, and then she did disappoint... 😮‍💨.

So basically this girl who's name I don't remember, lets just call her Jenny, goes to an island after her mother and farther get divorced. She's leaving her best friends behind, her dad behind, the boy she thinks she loves behind. She gets there, is a mardy pants for all of five seconds before falling in love with a man who doesn't where shoes because that's a turn on now blah, blah, blah, she was a virgin blah, blah, blah she gets over the boy back home blah, blah, blah she mends her relationship with her BFF and parents blah, blah, blah.

Honestly I feel like the main issue is I didn't have much love for the main character or her love interest. Like I felt for Jenny but that's just about it. And as for the barefoot man, why? WHY? just wear shoes??????? And also what happened to this mysteriously dark past of his? I feel like that was half the issue. It focused way too much on Jenny and I barely got to know any of the other characters.

The ending, where it explained that it was almost like an auto-biography but slightly more interesting sweetened me up a little bit but other than that, NADA.
