Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson (review)

TRIGGER WARNING- so, in this book there is mention of sexual assault. From memory it's never described in any way it's just something that Pip finds out about another character's past (cant remember who) but it ends up being quite essential in the story and it continues into book 2. I haven't read book 3 so I don't know if it's mentioned again.

EDIT. *TW - suicide, drug abuse, kidnapping, rape, and mentioned briefly self-harm. Lesser trigger warnings include mentioned disordered eating, psychological abuse, murder and underage drinking.

I have listened to the entire book before but that was a while ago so I decided to re-read it and then read the sequel... yh no.

Lets start with what I liked because it's shorter and better for formatting:

1. SOME of the characters (aka everyone minus PIP) were in-depth and it was fun to get to know their evil secrets 💀
2. You really do not expect the ending or who the killer is (IT'S HER SISTER GUYS! We gotta love some gud sibling rivalry)
3. Hey guess what???????????? IT ISN'T SEXIST 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳. Honestly, it's sad to admit to it, but this genuinely makes a change
4. It did actually focus on racism within the police force!!!! This is amazing since Holly Jackson is a white author and wayyyyyyyyyy too many are afraid to go talk about racism but the girl didn't shy away. Round of applause please 👏👏👏

NOW, everything I hate:

PIP. PIP. PIP. As well as the authors writing style but mainly PIP. PIP. PIP.

PIP decided it was okay to harass the family of a dead boy for her fucking school project. Friends and family members were also harassed by PIP. Then, PIP decided to impersonate one of the dead girl's friend's to get information... I cant even begin to describe why this is wrong. On the phone call PIP is a complete hypocrite to that racist police officer because he didn't use allegedly to say that Sal is a murderer. Fair enough to get mad at him for being prejudice but PIP wasn't using "allegedly" when she felt that Sal wasn't the killer and there was even less evidence backing PIP up for that one. PIP got her dog killed. Do I have to continue talking about why I hate PIP? I'm going to anyway, even without all of that, I hate PIP'S personality.

... Moving on, the writing style just wasn't my thing and the whole story line was unbelievable but mainly, PIP
