How to pick which audio book to buy
LOOK, I GET IT, this seems REALLY boring BUT please if your not going to read the whole thing JUST LISTEN TO THE SAMPLE and you'll find out why if you actually decide to read this.
so, welcome back to this blog and if u read my shit often u'll know that I'm very much into free audiobooks. HOWEVER, when you start getting to the more niche books, that's when u need audible. At some point I will do a guide to how audible works and what app works best but for now it's just going to be, what you need to think about for whatever audiobook so you don't waste £8.
There are two situations where these don't really apply and thats:
1. If you have already listened to the free version and now want to be able to listen to it offline
2. If you have started listening to an audiobook series and really want to finish it but a certain audiobook is'nt available freely so you need to buy it.
2. If you have started listening to an audiobook series and really want to finish it but a certain audiobook is'nt available freely so you need to buy it.
Otherwise, PLEASE READ THIS.
So obviously you have seen a book recommended somewhere and think that you'll like it or you will want to read it because it's getting lots of hype even though it's not your thing so whatever.
First thing, look at the average rating (I recommend Goodreads) and bare in mind that the average rating is about 3.5 stars. If it's below that, try to find a spoiler-free review where it explains what they don't like and you can judge if that will be an issue for you.
Second thing, listen to the sample. This is important for two different reasons.
1. You need to know if you like the writing style
2. THE VOICE. It doesn't happen often for me but some people can really be particular about the accent of the voice actor so please, I am begging you to listen to the sample.
Third thing, if you have done both of those things and are still unsure then listen to different free books by the same author. I know that this sounds odd but it works. I'm currently doing this with Abigaile Johnson because I want to read more of her books but I'm not sure if they will be as good as "Every Other Weekend".
I promise you, follow these three books and I'm not saying that the audiobooks won't disappoint but it's the best way to avoid wasting your money.
